Japan... just.
Hello all, this is going to be quite a long one, as it's been a hectic few days. So if you're all sitting comfortably then I'll begin...
Wednesday started as a good day, after drinking in a crazy bar in Ipoh with Tom and kevin on Tuesday night, Tom and I headed back down towards KL. We stopped at some caves that were really impressive, really... well, cavenous. I've never seen anything like it. Photos don't really do it justice, so I you'll have to trust me when I say they are huge! We got on our way again and stopped at a service station for about 15 minutes, for a bite to eat and a toilet break. When we got back to the car we found that it had been broken in to.
This of course is never a good thing. What made it worse is that the theiving scallywags (swear filter on) had nicked ALL my travel documents and my passport and Tom's bag with all his smart clothes and his work laptop in. Now of course you are all going to say "WHY DID YOU LEAVE THEM IN THE CAR!?" and in response I'll say "Leave me alone, if that's your attitude go read this instead and stop bullying me". When the police finally turned up they escorted us to the nearest police station (about 30 mins away) with their nee naws on.
I could go into to detail about how inept they were and how infuriating it is to spent 2 hours in one police station, just to be told you have to go to another and do the same thing, then come back tomorrow. I could whine about how it took them 2 hours to write a 3 paragraph report but I won't, that would be boring.
So I woke up at 6.45am on the Thursday morning, after about 2 hours sleep, with a flight booked for 21.45 and no passport and no tickets (deja vu anyone?). I won't go in to too much detail, other than to say that I am indebted to my parents, Beck, Tom's girlfriend Mae and the British Embassy all of whom have bent over backwards to help me in the last 2 days.
Needless to say, I got a new passport and my tickets reprinted just in time and I am now safe and sound in a city where I can't read any of the signs or menus and noone speaks the same language as me. Still having a great time.
Oh yeah, s'pose I'd better mention that Brownie is here with me too, he's having a little rest at the moment because it's been a long day for him poor little love. But he's all safe and sound. We plan to go and see the Hagoita ichi and maybe go to to Yokohama to watch Liverpool on Sunday.

Hi, Id like to try and post on the blog itself but dave isnt clever enough to work out how I can do it, so I can't.
First impressions of Tokyo are great. It seems to be a clean, very very friendly city with interesting things everywhere. Walking around Shinjuku at night showed us the 'Big City, Bright Lights' side of Tokyo on Friday night, and yesterday a trip to Senso-ji shrine while a festival was on was very interesting. Everyone we've spoken to (mainly to ask directions because japan has no street names other than the very major roads) has been very helpful. Eating is also an experience, as theres not much English around on the menu. We may well go for the Lucky Dip approach on several occasions. Which seems to be OK as the food so far has been really good.
Tokyo isnt as pricey as its reputed to be. Beers in the trendier areas are expensive (800 Yen, or about 4 quid), but food and transport hasnt been (Dave and I ate a big dinner each for jusy 8 quid yesterday).
Adios for now
